Curt Hessler

In his business career, Hessler ran several digital technology and media businesses: e.g., Founder/CEO of 101communications (technical journals and conferences), President/CEO of Quarterdeck, Inc. (PC software), chairman/CEO of I-Net (network management software and services), EVP of the Times Mirror Company (newspapers, magazines, textbooks, cable and broadcast TV franchises), Vice Chairman of Unisys Corporation (computers, software, defense electronics), EVP pf Sears World Trade (international trade management). Earlier, Hessler practiced international corporate law as a partner in New York and Washington with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton, and Garrison. He served in the Carter Administration (1977-80) as Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury for Economic Policy, Associate Director of O.M.B., and Executive Director of the President’s Economic Policy Group. Hessler clerked for U.S. Appeals Judge (D.C. circuit) J. Skelly Wright and for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, after education at Yale Law School (JD), University of California Berkeley (M.A. Economics) and Baliol College, Oxford University (as Rhodes Scholar). Hessler has taught advanced seminars on digital information law at UCLA Law School since 2002.
